The Garden Design Process

Once we have worked through the sketch design process, detailed scale plans are prepared, which illustrate clearly, to you and to a landscaper, the final concept for the garden.

Depending upon the brief, you will receive specifications, a bill of quantities, construction drawings of bespoke features – such as garden buildings, water features etc., lighting plans, 3D visualisations, setting out plans and planting plans.

Consultation

On an initial site visit I will discuss your ideas for the garden and then prepare a written brief and quote for you. This ensures I fully understand your requirements and that you have a clear idea of what I am going to do and how much it will cost.

Survey and Analysis

On the second site visit I undertake a detailed measured survey and a full analysis of the garden. I make a note of all the existing elements of the garden and begin to form an opinion of what should stay, what should go and what can be improved. We will also have another chat to tweak the brief and discuss any other ideas we may have had. For larger or sloping gardens a topographical survey is commissioned prior to the site analysis.

Strategy and Sketches

Following the survey and site analysis I will draw up sketches and collate images and we will begin a dialogue, discussing ideas until we have got a good outline plan of what to do with the space.

Implementation

This is the exciting bit – seeing the project come to life. Whether you need help finding a good contractor, some hands-on garden renovation and planting, project management or just the occasional site visit to give advice as you undertake the work yourself, I am happy to help.
